Counsellor | Tim Southwell
Tim is a counsellor who has transitioned from a career in Environmental Management to
counselling and social work. He holds a Graduate Diploma of Counselling and a Master of Social Work. His foundational qualifications are a Bachelor of Environmental Management with a major in Conservation Biology and Ecology. Tim worked for 8 years as an Environmental Manager. He has worked for the QLD EPA, global mining houses and a boutique consultancy (Hansen Bailey).
Tim has a passion for business, the professional workforce and the balance between success and holistic health. The purpose of his private practice is to empower professionals to live at their best both professionally and personally. Tim is experienced in alcohol and drug rehabilitation and recovery, grief and loss counselling, families and parenting. Prior to establishing Mind Resource Group, Tim worked for the not-for profit organisation Lives Lived Well where he provided counselling for clients identifying with substance misuse and addiction. Tim held other roles within Lives Lived Well including Project Officer and Therapeutic Community worker (rehabilitation).
Tim has experience with CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, group therapy, Motivational
Interviewing and Psychoeducation and offers a pragmatic yet empathic approach to therapy.
Since commencing counselling in 2013 Tim’s journey of academic and personal discovery has
led to a passionate alignment with strengths based approaches and solution focused therapy.
Tim’s continuing professional development has been centered around this alignment.
Tim also worked in child and youth mental health at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital as part of his Masters Degree.
Tim also is one of the few authorized Australian consultants working with the DNA Behavior
system of behavior profiling and performance coaching. Business DNA is one of these brilliant
systems and uncovers the behavioral talents of leaders, employees, and customers using a
validated, evidence based platform.

All practitioners have a cancellation policy of 48 hours notice required prior to appointment. Any cancellations within this window will incur a cancellation fee that is specific to each practitioner.
